City of Newark to Host Its 33rd Annual National Night Out Against Crime Tuesday. August 2,2016 @ Newark Stadium

Newark, NJ – August 2, 2016 – The City of Newark’s Department of Public Safety, comprised of the Newark, Police and Fire Divisions and the Office of Emergency Management, will observe the 33rd Annual “National Night Out Against Crime” onTuesday, August 2, 2016, at School Stadium in the City’s North.  The annual event will begin with 2pm, all programs are scheduled to 4pm and last until 8pm.

Open to the public, the event will include music, bouncy rides, a dunk tank, and other activities for kids and adults.  The entire event will also offer a display of public safety information and technology by the Newark Police Division, the Newark Fire Division, Sparky the Fire Dog will make appearances.

The Police Division will display their Emergency Services Unit and its equipment, police horses, motorcycles, the police boat, bomb truck, Segway device, and their command post vehicle.  The Fire Division will display their command vehicle, a HAZMAT vehicle, and their historic vintage fire engine.

“National Night Out” is a unique crime and a drug prevention awareness event endorsed by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW).  It is designed to generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
