NEWARK TO HOST EASTER SUNDAY “GRAB AND GO” ON SUNDAY, APRIL 9, FROM 2 P.M. TO 5 P.M., AT VINCE LOMBARDI CENTER OF HOPE, 201 BLOOMFIELD AVE, IN NORTH WARD

Newark, NJ – April 4, 2023 — Mayor Ras J. Baraka and Deputy Mayor of Community Engagement Jacqueline Quiles announced today that the City of Newark will host an Easter Sunday “Grab and Go” on Sunday, April 9, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Vince Lombardi Center of Hope. Operated by the Department of Recreation, Cultural Affairs, and Senior Services, the center is located at 201 Bloomfield Avenue in Newark’s North Ward. The event is FREE and open to the public.

At the event, residents can receive Easter baskets (first come, first served), candy, books, and care packages. There will also be resource information tables. The Newark Hispanic Commission will sponsor the music for the event.

“We are proud to join in the celebrations of Easter renewal with our residents by hosting this ‘Grab and Go,’” Mayor Baraka said. “Newark youth will enjoy the assortment of treats and giveaways, and residents of all ages will benefit from the information and resources we’ll provide. I send my best wishes to every resident of Newark for a blessed Easter and the spirit of springtime’s renewal and freshness.”

“Our annual Easter Sunday ‘Grab and Go’ is an important event for our residents,” Deputy Mayor Quiles said. “I want to thank the sponsors and partners who worked to support it, and thank them for their continuing commitment to Newark.”

Sponsors of the event include the Department of Recreation, Cultural Affairs, and Senior Services, Popular Bank, United Community Corporation, Amerigroup, Goya, and the Department of Health and Community Wellness’s Mary Eliza Mahoney Health Center.

Partnering organizations are the Department of Health and Community Wellness, NJIT, Rutgers University Medical School, La Casa de Don Pedro, FOCUS-Hispanic Center for Community Development, Inc., NJ Cops 4 Kids Essex County Chapter, the Victims of Crime Compensation Office, and the Shani Baraka Women’s Resource Center.
