Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka, the Department of Economic and Housing Development, and the National Association of Real Estate Brokers will hold the second Newark Housing Summit on Saturday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the City Hall First Floor Rotunda, located at 920 Broad Street. The summit is FREE and open to the public.
Advance registration is encouraged. The summit will consist of workshops on such subjects as the city’s Homestead Auction Program, foreclosure prevention, mortgage loan products, investing in housing, credit repair, property development, and tax abatements. The summit will also explain the development process to help residents better understand the costs and benefits of owning a new home. Mayor Baraka will discuss the City’s initiatives to make homeownership more widespread in Newark. “With economic growth accelerating in Newark, we want to ensure that residents across our city are empowered with the information and resources to benefit from our progress. This is about residents living in a vibrant community and having the opportunity to become homeowners. This Housing Summit is a step in the right direction,” said Mayor Baraka.
