o Deaths from Covid-19 are undercounted, WHO says [CNN]

o The US coronavirus death toll is projected to reach 410,000 in the next 4 months if mask use wanes [CNN]

• HERE ARE OUR NUMBERS TODAY

o Newark:

 15 more positive cases than yesterday, and a total of 807 since June 30th.

 No new deaths since Wednesday; a total of 33 since June 30th.

o NJ:

 A total of 193,422 positive cases, which is 449 more than yesterday.

 A total 14,195 deaths, which is 7 more than yesterday.

This calculation is based on the method that we have done for the past few months and not the method that the State is using for its reporting.

o Test Positivity Rates (As of August 29th):

 Newark 1.44% (last week 1.90% on August 22nd)

 NJ 2.14% (last week 2.41% on August 22nd)

• LARGE GATHERINGS HOTLINE

 With indoor dining now allowed, if you see any restaurants that have too many people in them, you can use the hotline to report them. They are allowed to have 25% of their capacity. So please let us know if that is not being followed.

 We have to be diligent about keeping everyone safe, even though people want a sense of normalcy.

 Report large gatherings, large groups not practicing social distancing, crowds not wearing masks, and overcrowded restaurants.

• CENSUS TRAIN – THIS SATURDAY

 Our Census Train will be out on Saturday, September 5th to help get Newark counted!

 Beginning at 12:30PM the float will go to the Elwood & Mt Prospect Ave area, and travel to Broad St. & Market St., So. Orange Ave & Fairmount, down Elizabeth Avenue, Ferry St & Wilson (the 5 corners).

 There will be a DJ and giveaways so plan to come out and tell your family and friends. The Census deadline is less than 30 days away.
