• HERE ARE OUR NUMBERS TODAY

o Newark:

 4 more positive cases than yesterday, and a total of 792 since June 30th.

 No new deaths since yesterday; a total of 33 since June 30th.

o NJ:

 A total of 192,973 positive cases, which is 378 more than yesterday.

 A total 14,188 deaths, which is 7 more than yesterday.

o Globally:

 There have been more than 26 million positive cases (26,356,107)

 There have been more than 870,000 deaths (870,274)

o US:

 There have been more than 6.3 million cases (almost 25% of the world’s positive cases -- 6,310,196)

 There have been more than 190,000 deaths (more than 20% of the deaths around the world -- 190,447)

• INDOOR DINING AND GYMS REOPEN

 Please be safe and use your better judgement if you decide to dine indoors and go to the gym. Continue to wear your masks as much as possible when in these locations.

• LARGE GATHERINGS HOTLINE

 Please continue to report large gatherings, large groups not practicing social distancing, and crowds not wearing masks – in NEWARK.

 The hotline and your help will definitely be needed during this Labor Day holiday weekend.

• CENSUS – SEPTEMBER 30TH DEADLINE

 Thanks to the Newark residents who came out and got counted for the Census in front of City Hall this afternoon, where we gave out 150 ShopRite gift cards.

 Remember that if you haven’t completed yours yet, you can get assistance outside of the Newark Public Library Main Branch tomorrow between 11:30AM and 2:30PM (and every Mon-Wed-Fri). We are distributing the $50 gift cards then as well.

 The NEWARK CENSUS SELFIE CONTEST that the Mayor previously mentioned has a $1,000 prize for the best creative selfie:

• 1) Fill out the Census form online

• 2) Take a creative selfie as proof it has been completed

• 3) Email to NEWARKCOUNTS@GMAIL.COM  with a #NewarkCounts hashtag.

• CENSUS TRAIN – THIS SATURDAY

 Don’t forget to come out on Saturday for the Census Train— fun for a purpose to include a float, DJ and giveaways

 Starting at 12:30PM at Elwood & Mt Prospect Ave area, and traveling to Broad St. & Market St., So. Orange Ave & Fairmount, down Elizabeth Avenue, and going to Ferry St & Wilson (the 5 corners).

 If it’s easier for you to compete the Census on your own and you just haven’t gotten to it yet, please DO NOT DELAY any further and get yourself COUNTED.
