• IN THE NEWS:

o According to USA Today’s analysis of Johns Hopkins University data, for the first time since the pandemic began, the U.S. added more than 500,000 COVID cases in a week. 9 million cases, 232K deaths

• HERE ARE OUR NUMBERS TODAY

o NEWARK:

 313 more positive cases than Monday, and a total of 3,056 since June 30th.

(Monday to Tuesday there were 192 more; Tuesday to today there are 121 more)

 No new deaths; a total of 42 since June 30th.

o NJ:

 A total of 232,997 positive cases, which is 4,529 more than Monday, October 26.

 A total of 14,531 deaths, which is 35 more since Monday, October 26.

• REMINDER: THE FOLLOWING WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED WITHOUT EXCEPTION

o For the next 2 weeks (which we will re-asses after Tuesday, November 10th):

o All stores except supermarkets, pharmacies, and gas stations have to close at 8 p.m. every day. All corner stores and bodegas have to close at 8 p.m. The stores can deliver and have take out but no indoor ordering or lines inside.

o All restaurants, bars, etc. must close their indoor service at 8 p.m. and outdoor service at 11 p.m. They must also take temperatures of all patrons coming inside and ask them have they been in touch with anyone with COVID-19.

o All barbershops, beauty parlors, nail salons, and related establishments must have appointments only and no waiting inside.

o All gyms must clean and sanitize for the first 30 minutes of each hour. During that time, people can stay inside or return after the cleaning. Everyone must wear masks.

o Faith based activity must adhere to the capacity guidelines and wear masks at all times.

o All indoor establishments must have sanitizer available.

o City Hall is open by appointment only.

o The City has closed all recreation centers to everything but school-related programs for essential employees.

o All sports activities and open park practices and games in the East Ward are canceled.

o The City is encouraging all of our employees to be tested immediately and periodically thereafter. We encourage all organizations to do the same.

o Newark is discouraging all parties, indoor and outdoor festivals, and large family gatherings until further notice.

o Also, Halloween trick or treating is strongly discouraged—and Thanksgiving and Winter Holidays should really be spent with just your immediate family.

 Especially with our new measures in place, please continue to call the hotline to report large gatherings, large groups not practicing social distancing, and crowds not wearing masks.

 Deliver it to the Essex County Board of Elections office,

 Bring to your polling location on Election Day,

 Or vote by provision ballot at your polling location on Election Day, November 3rd (polls open until 8PM)
