• IN THE NEWS

 The American Medical Association (AMA), the American Hospital Association (AHA), and the American Nurses Association (ANA) issued an open letter yesterday urging Americans to scale back holiday plans to reduce spread of Covid-19.

 The letter says: "With Thanksgiving and the holiday season fast approaching and a deadly Covid-19 pandemic surging, we -- the physicians, nurses, hospital and health system leaders and public health professionals on the front lines of this pandemic -- strongly urge everyone throughout our country to celebrate responsibly, in a scaled-back fashion that limits the virus's spread, to help reduce the risk of infecting friends, family and others you love."

 351 more positive cases than Wednesday, November 18 and a total of 7,136 since June 30th.

(Wednesday to Thursday there were 124 more; yesterday to today there are 227 more)

No new deaths; a total of 63 since June 30th.

o NJ:

 A total of 297,370 positive cases, which is 7,808 more than Wednesday.

(Wednesday to Thursday there were 4,182 more; yesterday to today there are 3,626 more)

 A total of 14,900 deaths, which is

57 more since Wednesday.

o GLOBALLY:

 More than 57.6 million positive cases

 More than 1.3 million deaths

o US:

 More than 12.1 million positive cases

This calculation is based on the method that we have done for the past few months and not the method that the State is using for its reporting.

• TEST POSITIVITY RATES (AS OF NOV 14) USING A 3-DAY ROLLING AVERAGE

 Newark 21.14% as of Nov 14 (vs Nov 8 was 21.87%)

 NJ 10.88% as of Nov 14 (vs Nov 8 was 12.02%)

 Newark's test positivity rate (on a 3-day rolling average) is double the State's positivity rate at this point in time.

• CURFEW IS STILL IN EFFECT

 Indoor Dining: 8:00PM; Deliveries and Pick Ups: 11:00PM.

 More stringent in specific areas: Within 07104, 07105, and 07107. Must close all activity at 8:00PM because there is a 9:00PM curfew on weekdays and 10:00PM on weekends.

• MAYOR REITERATED THE DIRE NEED FOR THE QUARANTINE ADVISORY – EFFECTIVE WEDNESDAY

 Mayor urged people to stay home Wednesday, November 25 through Friday, December 4 (10 days).

 City Hall and all of the City’s public buildings will be shut down during that time, except essential services.
