• Today We Move Into Phase 2

o WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

Museums/libraries will be reassessed

In-Person Worship services will be reassessed

o IF YOU’RE A BUSINESS OWNER of a non-essential business, you must apply for a re-opening permit in order for the City to issue a color-coded safety-level certificate required for reopening.

o THE PROCESS

 The application will include information necessary to know how your business will implement its reopening.

 We review the applications and notify you whether an application has been approved or disapproved.

 If approved, the business will be inspected to ensure compliance with the requirements.

o NEED HELP FILLING OUT APPLICATION?

 We have video instructions on the NEWARKCOVID19.COM website. Click on “Application and requirements to reopen”

o APPLICATIONS RECEIVED:

 To date, we’ve received 667 applications

 410 have been approved by EHD, Special Taxes and Sent for Inspection

 112 of the approved applications are on hold per State Regulations for June 22 reopening (i.e. barber, hair and nail salons)

• WEAR YOUR MASK, WASH YOUR HANDS AND WEAR GLOVES

• City Hall and Municipal Buildings Also Reopened Today for Normal Business Hours

o You will need to check and have temperature checked and wear your mask upon entering the buildings

• Community Clean Up

o This past weekend’s community clean-up in the South Ward has us off to a great start with working together to get and keep our neighborhoods clean

o This Saturday will be the WEST WARD’s clean-up day

o Dumpster locations and where to pick up supplies will be shared in the coming days

o The remaining community clean-up days for the East, Central, and North are:

 June 27 – East Ward

 July 11 – Central Ward

 July 18 – North Ward

• Food Relief Program will continue until September 1st

o If you or someone you know needs food, please leave your information/address in the comments for us

o The next delivery will be this Wednesday
