• STORM UPDATE

o There were 19,000 homes without power and there are still 3,500 without power so if any resident has needs as a result of the storm, please call us at 973-733-6000 if assistance is needed (food, sheltering, etc.)

o PSE&G is working to get the power restored and we are working to take care of fallen trees. Again, we need the help of PSE&G for the trees that have wires and in the meantime please stay away from those areas to ensure your safety.

• HERE ARE OUR NUMBERS TODAY—

o Newark:

 14 more positive cases than yesterday, and a total of 430 since the start date of June 30th.

 1 new deaths, and a total of 27 since the start date of June 30th.

o NJ:

 183,701 positive cases, which is 374 more than yesterday.

 13,996 deaths, which is 7 more than yesterday.

• WASH YOUR HANDS, WEAR YOUR MASKS, SOCIAL DISTANCE, GET TESTED

 We still have to do all that we’ve been doing, wash your hands, wear your masks, practicing social distancing, and get tested.

 We are approaching 5 months since that first case in Newark on March 14th and well over 8,000 positive cases with almost 700 deaths.

• SIT STILL SUNDAYS

 Starting this Sunday, August 9th, everything in the city will close at 8PM for Sit Still Sundays.

 This will be in effect for 2 Sundays and then we will assess what our positivity/infection rates look like to determine if there’s more we need to do.

• CENSUS

 Today, U.S. Census Bureau began in-person follow up with Newark households that have not yet responded to the 2020 Census.

 If you have not completed it yet, they’ll come to your door (masked up with a valid government ID badge).

 If you are unsure that the person is with the Census, you can call 212-882-7100 to verify the Census taker’s identity.

 Or you can still fill out your Census on your own TODAY—

• REMINDER: “COMBATING VIOLENCE AMID COVID-19” VIRTUAL COMMUNITY CONVERSATION
