• HERE ARE OUR NUMBERS TODAY—

o Newark:

 36 more positive cases than Friday, and a total of 577 since the start date of June 30th.

 1 new death since Friday, and a total of 31 since start date of June 30th.

o NJ:

 A total of 187,767 positive cases, which is 603 more than Friday.

 A total 14,077 deaths, which is 13 more than Friday.

• RETURNING TO SCHOOL

 Mayor Baraka is in support of Superintendent León’s decision for Newark Public Schools to have virtual learning until the end of the first marking period (November).

• HOTLINE

 Thank you for using the Newark hotline (973-969-1122) to report large crowds, gatherings with people not wearing masks, or large groups not practicing social distancing. It’s been very effective.

• SIT STILL SUNDAYS

 Between Sit Still Sundays, the hotline, and changed behavior, we hope to see our numbers go down.

 The Mayor will share that data on Friday and see what that looks like.

 This Sunday will be normal hours this Sunday.

• CENSUS TRAIN

 We made progress during this past weekend’s CENSUS TRAIN. We’re now up to 48% counted.

 We distributed 300 hot meals, gave out 300 masks, and signed up just under 100 people.

 The Census Train will be out again this coming weekend between 11AM and 2PM.

 Locations will be announced tomorrow.

 At our Adopt A Block pop-up sites, you can come out and get tested, complete the Census, talk with police and fire fighters, and get information from other City departments as well.

• FOOD RELIEF PROGRAM

 To date, we have served 1.1 million meals (1,115,085). 2 million meals have been distributed including Newark Public Schools.

• LIVE MUSIC AT RESTAURANTS

 This week (when/exact details to come), restaurants that have patrons seated and eating outdoors will be allowed to have live music and bands outside.
