A total of 187,767 positive cases, which is 603 more than Friday.
A total 14,077 deaths, which is 13 more than Friday.
• RETURNING TO SCHOOL
Mayor Baraka is in support of Superintendent León’s decision for Newark Public Schools to have virtual learning until the end of the first marking period (November).
• HOTLINE
Thank you for using the Newark hotline (973-969-1122) to report large crowds, gatherings with people not wearing masks, or large groups not practicing social distancing. It’s been very effective.
• SIT STILL SUNDAYS
Between Sit Still Sundays, the hotline, and changed behavior, we hope to see our numbers go down.
The Mayor will share that data on Friday and see what that looks like.
This Sunday will be normal hours this Sunday.
• CENSUS TRAIN
We made progress during this past weekend’s CENSUS TRAIN. We’re now up to 48% counted.
We distributed 300 hot meals, gave out 300 masks, and signed up just under 100 people.
The Census Train will be out again this coming weekend between 11AM and 2PM.
Locations will be announced tomorrow.
