• Fiscal Resources

Mayor Baraka asks residents to support a bill proposed by Senator Menendez to provide additional funding for the State of New Jersey and the City of Newark. Mayor Baraka also supports monthly payments to individuals in addition to more financial support for small businesses.


• Support for Small Businesses

Mayor Baraka to announce recipients of Small Business Stimulus Grant Program.


• COVID-19 Testing

Mayor Baraka is working diligently to provide an additional 100,000 COVID-19 related tests to Newark residents including its senior population and essential workers.


• Kentucky sees record spike in coronavirus cases days after lockdown protests

Mayor Baraka urged all Newark residents to continue to practice social distancing despite what other states may be doing. He specifically referenced the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the State of Georgia who have relaxed some of their social distancing parameters. He also stressed for those individuals who must go out for essential services to wear both protective face coverings and gloves. The Mayor has also stated that more deaths have occurred from COVID-19 thus far than the past three (3) flu seasons combined.
