CITY OF NEWARK REMINDS RESIDENTS: TRASH, RECYCLING, AND STREET-SWEEPING SERVICES WILL BE SUSPENDED IN OBSERVANCE OF THANKSGIVING DAY HOLIDAY ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 26, AND FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 27

Newark, NJ – November 25, 2020 – Mayor Ras J. Baraka reminded residents today that all non-emergency Newark municipal services will be suspended on Thursday, November 26, and Friday, November 27, for the observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday. Police, fire, and other uniformed emergency services will be unaffected. Curbside trash, street sweeping, and recycling collection will not be picked up. Curbside trash collection will not be made on Thursday, November 26, or Friday, November 27. However, trash pick-ups will resume on Monday, November 30. In addition, alternate side of the street parking will be suspended.

Municipal garbage and recycling collection will resume in Zone A on Monday, November 30. It will resume in Zone B on Tuesday morning, December 1. Residents must place their refuse at their curbs the evening before those days, and pick-ups will be made as regularly scheduled.

The Municipal Court will also be closed on Thursday, November 26, and on Friday, November 27. However, a judge will be available to preside over bail hearings for defendants in custody, on Friday, November 27. Residents can make payments on parking and traffic tickets through the website www.njmcdirect.com. To utilize this website, residents will need their summons number, including the prefix, and the City of Newark’s court code, which is 0714.
