CITY OF NEWARK REMINDS RESIDENTS: ALL NON-UNIFORMED CITY SERVICES INCLUDING MUNICIPAL COURT WILL BE SUSPENDED IN OBSERVANCE OF CHRISTMAS ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 25

Newark, NJ – December 23, 2020 – Mayor Ras J. Baraka reminded residents today that City of Newark non-emergency municipal services will be suspended on Friday, December 25, for the observance of Christmas. Police, fire, and other uniformed emergency services will be unaffected. Curbside trash, street sweeping, and recycling collection will not be picked up.  Curbside trash collection will not be made on Friday, December 25. However, trash pick-ups will resume on Monday, December 28. In addition, alternate side of the street parking will be suspended.

 

Municipal garbage and recycling collection will resume in Zone A on Monday, December 28. It will resume in Zone B on Tuesday, December 29. Residents must place their refuse at their curbs the evening before those days, and pick-ups will be made as regularly scheduled.

In addition, there will be no COVID-19 testing sites in operation on both Christmas Day (Friday, December 25), and Saturday, December 26.

 

The Municipal Court will also be closed on Friday, December 25. However, a judge will be available to preside over bail hearings for defendants in custody, on Friday, December 25. Residents can make payments on parking and traffic tickets through the website www.njmcdirect.com. To utilize this website, residents will need their summons number, including the prefix, and the City of Newark’s court code, which is 0714.
