Mayor Ras J. Baraka announced today that the “Slide the City” event scheduled to be held on Saturday, August 20, on Warren Street in the City’s Central Ward has been cancelled and re-scheduled. A new date will be announced shortly.

As the tickets that have been sold for this event are non-refundable, ticket-holders are urged to keep them so that they will be honored when the event is held.

“We regret having to postpone this important celebration of Newark’s summer,” Mayor Baraka said. “We are working to reschedule it, and hope that our residents can be patient. In the interim, I urge them to join us for the extremely important #24HrsofPeace and ‘Occupy Newark’ events that day, and show their love of and commitment to our beloved City.”
