Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Deputy Mayor of Economic and Housing Development Baye Adofo-Wilson, Newark YMCA President and CEO Michael Bright, BCM Affordable Housing President Bruce Morgan and Ingerman President and CEO Brad Ingerman will cut the ribbon to open “The Willows at Symphony Hall” affordable housing project on Wednesday, June 7, at 11 a.m., at 395 Halsey Street, in the city’s downtown.
A joint project of the YMCA and Ingerman, this building will provide 60 affordable housing units, 20 of them one-bedroom units and 40 as two-bedroom units. Some 15 of the 60 units are set aside for residents with special needs, including six with mental illness and nine who are homeless with a disability. These are fully-furnished.
The four-story building’s amenities include a fitness center, community rooms with an artists’ studio and gallery space, furnished sundecks, playground, off-street parking, secured-entry, pet-friendly, and handicapped-accessible.
