Mayor Ras J. Baraka and the African-American Heritage Parade Committee will host the African-American Heritage New Jersey Beauty Pageant Crowning Ceremony on Saturday, May 20, from 2 p.m. to 3:45 p.m., in the City Hall First Floor Rotunda. City Hall is located at 920 Broad Street.
The ceremony, moved from its original site at Arts High School, will crown winners in age categories from five to 50 and over.
The competition is part of the annual African-American Heritage Festival, whose highlight will be the festival weekend from May 26 to May 29. The festival itself will be held in Weequahic Park and the Parade will tip off on Sunday, May 28, at noon, at Lincoln Park, and proceed up Broad Street.
