Mayor Ras J. Baraka, the Newark Municipal Council, and community organizers will host the Seventh Annual #24HrsOfPeace, from Friday, September 29, at 6 p.m., to Saturday, September 30, at 6 p.m., on Clinton Avenue in the City’s South Ward, between Bergen Street and Treacy Avenue.
The event is produced in partnership with HSP Entertainment and Hip Hop 4 the People and will feature rapper Styles P and R&B singer/songwriter Monifah, in addition to other musical artists and DJs.
The annual event advocates a violence-free community by creating a “time-out” for 24 hours, promoting community-building for parents, children, artists, business owners, faith- and community-based organizations. The event is returning to the SouthWard this year.
In addition, donations will be collected for hurricane victims in Houston, Florida, and the Caribbean at the event.
