Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Deputy Mayor of Economic and Housing Development Baye Adofo-Wilson, Central Ward Council Member Gayle Chaneyfield-Jenkins, Newark Community Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Aisha Glover, Tonnie’s Minis founder and CEO Tonnie Rozier, Krausers owner Mital Patel, and RBH Group Founder and Partner Ron Beit will cut the ribbon to open Tonnie’s Minis and Krausers today, at 11 a.m., at 228 Halsey Street.
Teacher’s Village, located in the heart of downtown Newark, is located five blocks along Halsey Street, offers opportunities for teachers, students, professionals, to live, work, shop, eat, and learn. Mr. Rozier began baking at age seven under the tutelage of his mother and grandmother, and created his own recipes that in turn led him to establish his baking business, first at his home in Jersey City, then in a Greenwich Village “Tonnie’s Minis” shop in 2006, which gained outstanding reviews from Manhattan residents, visitors, and celebrities alike. Mr. Rozier’s recipe for his carrot cakes are a personal secret.
The dignitaries will also open the city’s second Krauser’s mini-mart, which will provide quality delicatessen and food service to the Teacher’s Village community.
