Boys and Young Men of Color Opportunity Summit

Mayor Ras J Baraka and My Brother’s Keeper Alliance (MBK Alliance) invite you to join us at our Pathways to Success: Boys and Young Men of Color (BYMOC) Opportunity Summit to Newark, NJ.

The Opportunity Summit provides BYMOC between the ages of 16 and 29 years old with tailored space to interview with employers for on-the-spot hiring, immediate access to community resources and social services, and a chance to participate in career preparation and leadership development trainings.

The Summit offers a variety of activities and resources including:

  • On the Spot Hiring: Youth have a chance to interview with employers looking to hire immediately!
  • Career Exploration:  Booths focused on local employment opportunities and career pathways.
  • Workshops and Hands-On Activity Centers: Dress for Success, MENtoring, Technology & Social Media, Entrepreneurship, Hip-Hop Development, Barber Shop, professional headshots, and more…
  • Community Resource Fair:  Booths focused on public benefit screening and enrollment, career and technical education, resources for undocumented individuals, high school re-engagement, youth organizing opportunities, legal support services, and more…

The day is filled with meaningful experiences, music, refreshments, and hands-on activities.
