Due to mayor Ras Baraka’s Monday be still initiative. The department of public works will be closed.
Please be reminded we must continue to follow the municipal ordinance that requires us to place our recyclables & waste curbside the night before the scheduled collection. Between the hours of 6 pm & 10 pm.
For example, if my collection day is Monday according to the law I must place my garbage curbside Sunday night between the hours of 6 pm & 10 pm.
If my collection day is Tuesday, according to the law I must place my recyclables & waste out curbside Monday night between the hours of 6 pm & 10 pm.

What We Pick Up
Place trash in a sturdy can with lid or in plastic bags. Bags must be 1.2 m
Bulky household waste or bulk items are household items that include couches, tables, chairs, mattresses, dressers, closets, rugs, exercise equipment and vanities.
Every residential privately owned property shall be limited to ten (10) bulk items that can be placed outside on the scheduled bulk collection day.
Anything exceeding ten (10) bulk items shall be removed by a private hauler, on the same day, at the owner’s expense.
Any person, firm, corporation, or entity that violates, fails or neglects to comply with the provisions of this Subsection, or rule or regulation promulgated pursuant thereto, shall be punishable upon conviction thereof by a fine or penalty.
Bulk items that will not be removed
Electronics (computers, TV, ect.) can be dropped off at Essex Country Electronic Recycling Depot located at 62 Frelinghuysen Ave in Newark. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm and Saturdays 8am to 12:30pm. For more information please call 973-733-3644
