Municipal Court Administrator

POSITION DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS

The Newark Municipal Court is seeking to hire a motivated, organized, self-starter with excellent communication, customer service, management and supervisory skills to work under the general direction of the Municipal Court Director.

Responsibilities include supervision of court staff, answering questions from the public, employees and clients; preparing, reviewing and monitoring daily, weekly and monthly reports; evaluating reports, draft correspondence and perform related duties as required.

Candidate should have experience in case flow management, an efficient working knowledge of Zoom, ATS/ACS, MACS, PCSAM and Page Center systems. Current certification as a Municipal Court Administrator issued by the New Jersey Supreme Court pursuant to NJSA 2B:12-1et.al. is preferred. Court hours are 8:30am to 7pm. Shifts may vary depending on needs of court.

Candidates must be willing to work an evening shift Monday thru Friday, 11am-7pm.

SPECIAL NOTES:

If not certified, the successful candidate will be appointed on an interim basis. The Interim MCA must earn certification within three (3) years of appointment. The Interim status may be renewed annually, up to three (3) years total, upon recommendation of the Chief Judge.

All newly appointed municipal court administrators, who are not accredited pursuant to N.J.S.A. 2B:12-11 et al., must obtain conditional accreditation within six (6) months of the date of appointment and must obtain full accreditation within three (3) years of the date of appointment.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:

Pursuant to Section 2:14-1 of the Newark Administrative Code, all persons newly hired must be or become a bona fide resident of the City of Newark. Bona fide resident means having a permanent domicile within the City and one which has not been adopted with the intention of again taking up or claiming a previous residence acquired outside the City limits.
